The creative sparks were flying last night! I created the “Mama Says” organization pack to help get me started this upcoming week as we return to regular homeschooling activities. “Mama” is modeled after me, Kristina, and is drawn directly in Illustrator. She is imperfect just like me and I love her just the same! At first I was going to keep her to myself, but she is just so cute. For now, the pack is free and includes a Note Sheet, a To Do List, and a Shopping List. You may download as many copies as needed so long as you adhere to the following guidelines:

1). DO NOT sell, modify, recreate, or alter the design in any way for any purpose.

2) DO NOT remove the “designed by Artfully Woven” portion of the design.

3) DO NOT, for any reason, take credit for the creation of this product.

4) DO direct others to this site so that they may also download this pack!

Enjoy!

I’m a doodler (is that a word) from way back! LOL. No seriously, I have been doodling since I could hold a pen. It helps me pay attention in class, it helps to keep me calm when life gets really stressful, and when I was teaching it got me through some of the boring professional development workshops of the NYCTF program. The funny thing is that many of the designs that will end up on Artfully Woven begin as doodles in my notebook or in the margins of random papers.

This Christmas, Santa brought my daughter, who is 5, watercolor color pencils and pastels. And a few weeks back, I received a new order of my favorite pens from Tokyo Pen Shop. Tonight, I decided to create a doodle with my daughter who loves to color, draw, and paint. We took turn creating segments in my journal and then we used pastels and watercolor pencils to add color.

I’m looking forward to creating more doodles with her! It’s a great way to spark the imagination and spend some time with the little one.

Do you doodle? What have you created as of late?

If your children are anything like my daughter, they are probably already bored with their recent holiday toys. Here’s a Gingerbread Woman and Man coloring page to help keep them busy! And you can do a lot with it once they color it too. Here are some suggestions:

(1) Add 6 random numbers between one an twelve, grab some 2 dice and play bingo. Roll the dice and using a stamp or coin, have your child mark off the number shown. First person to cover the page wins.

(2) Color and cut out the Gingerbread person. Glue to cardstock and make “Thank You” cards for family and friends.

(3) Color and cut out two Gingerbread people. Glue them back to back with a popsicle stick between the two and make puppets.

And most importantly, have fun!

We offer ready-to-color complex pattern designs that will stimulate your creativity and your imagination. Some of the patterns represent very real things in the world while many others are abstract creations born of our favorite pastime- electronic doodling. But the best part is that they are all incomplete until you add your touch.

In addition to the variety of patterns we offer, you will also find different suggestions and tips for using these pages with children. And while the many complex designs will appeal to adults, you will find that children will love the infinite possibilities that come from combining colors and tools in one design.
